Three Kings Day and Owen's Favorite Thing So Far

Last Thursday it was Three King's Day (Epiphany) in Spain.  It's a big holiday with parades and gift exchange for the kids.

This is Plaza Mayor decorated for the holiday.

Everyone buys a cake (Roscón), which is more of a bread with sugar and candied fruit on top.

Here's our cake.

There is a small figure hidden in the cake and whoever gets the slice with the hidden figure has good luck for the year.

We got our passes for the metro a few days ago (which required a trip to the tobacco shop).  Owen loves the metro, but even more he loves the exalators (escalators).

Owen and Dave.

  2. Fascinating! It seems celebration of Epiphany get's much higher profile than in the American churches.
Is Dad worn out on the exalators??
