We have everything we think we'll need over the next months packed into seven suitcases. This includes a stroller, Christmas gifts that the boys can't leave behind, work files for both Dave and me, winter and spring clothes and shoes for all of us, linens, and books (way too many books.) Then there's the electronics we will carry with us on the plane (two laptops, a kindle, one itouch, dvd player, and digital camera with telephoto lens (for Dave's bird pictures.)
The bags that we will check at the airport weigh someone near, but not more than, 350 lbs. I know this because David weighed each piece (our airline says that a single bag can't weigh more than 50 lbs.) He used a pack of Sam's diapers to help weigh bags (see picture below). I don't ask:)
