Our apartment

We have settled into our apartment which is located on the sixth floor in a working class neighborhood just south of the La Latina (an old part of Madrid).  The elevator in our building is the old-fashioned kind with a counter weight system.

We are close to any shopping we need to do and a metro stop is right outside our door.  The metro takes us anywhere we want to go in the city.

Here are some pics of our apartment.

Our kitchen.

Our dining room.  Notice the clothes drying in the background. Clothes driers aren't the norm here.

Here are the boys watching a movie on their DVD player in the living room.  There is also a small terrace behind the curtain.

Here's the view outside our kitchen window.  More clothes drying.

We also have two small bathrooms and three little bedrooms (one of those has been turned into my office space.)

When we arrived we had no supplies of any sort.  No toilet paper, no towels, salt and pepper, etc.  So we've been slowly setting ourselves up over the last few days.  We have no car and so have to carry everything from the store.  We shop nearly everyday, as it seems most people do around here.

This is the Puerta de Toledo, located just up the street from where we live.

One of the wheels on our stroller got mangled on the plane.  It threatened to fall off completely, until Dave fixed it with some wire and a fork (we have no tools...).  It works great now:)
In the next post, I'll tell about Three Kings Day and Owen's favorite thing so far.
